Work From Home. Use Twitter. Make Money?
Everyone is hopping on Twitter lately trying to figure out the easiest way to monetize it. There are tons of blog posts out there with tips on how to best use Twitter for business. But no blogs address how home based businesses can succeed with this hot microblogging service. Is it possible?
The wide range of instant information and networking possibilities Twitter provides is widespread. However, there are a lot of companies now trying to help active “Tweeters” monetize their streams with ads - most notably, TwtAd.com.
TwtAd manages a network of advertisers and runs pay-per-click (PPC) ads across the accounts of Twitter users. For each click your Twitter message that includes your ad receives, you earn revenue (typically a couple cents). That said, the larger your list of Twitter followers, the more potential you have to earn revenue on this site. There is also an MLM element to this method of PPC advertising, as you can earn 20% returns on the earnings of anyone you refer to the service.
How can a site like TwtAd benefit a home based business owner?
• Exposure to new customers (if you’re looking to promote through their service).
• Potential for extra revenue unrelated to your actual home business
Are sites like TwtAd legitimate opportunities? It seems so. All you’re doing is promoting an advertiser to your list of Twitter followers. That said, there doesn’t seem to be many high paying advertisers on the network at this time. Also, there have been reports of ads not pointing to the right webpage. It seems that even on Twitter, spam can still prevail.
As an alternative, traditional affiliate marketing and blogging from home seem to be better opportunities to earn revenue as a work from home writer on the internet. However, Twitter is definitely a site affiliate marketers and bloggers should be using to drive traffic to their sites and get conversations started around their favorite topics.
Looking to use Twitter to benefit your work at home blog or business? Consider making these quick changes to your site syndication and see your site traffic grow:
• For bloggers who use Wordpress - download the Twitter Updater plugin. This will publish all blog posts to your Twitter stream.
• Sync your Twitter account to your Faceboook profile status through the Twitter Application on Facebook. This will allow all of your friends on Facebook to see your Twitter status without needing to be subscribed to Twitter.
• Send “@” messages with links to your site to people that you share Twitter followers with. Third person followers can now see your two-way conversation.
